For our viewers in North Georgia and Athens, we've been experiences the 3 H's of weather; Hot, Humid, and Hazy as we've been baking in the low 90's along with heat index values being in the low 100's due to high relative humidity rates along with hazy skies caused by a high pressure system coming into the area after the passage of a cold front. The good news is that the hazy skies are gone and the temperatures and heat index values will cool off a little. But with that comes the chance for some rain showers.
As we head into the overnight in Athens, we expect to see an isolated shower or two in the evening time, followed by mostly cloudy skies, with the low dipping into the low 70's. For tomorrow, there will be considerable cloudiness throughout the day along with some scattered thunderstorms. The high will peak into the low 90's.
For North Georgia, similar conditions are expected. Going into the overnight hours, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in the evening, followed by mostly cloudy conditions, with the low dipping down into the high 60's. For tomorrow, variable cloud cover in the morning will lead into scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, with the high expected to peak in the high 80's.
As we go into the weekend, the chance for scattered thunderstorms will remain as the cold front pushes into our area from Tennessee. By early next week, temperatures and relative humidity will begin to gradually increase and the rain chances will decrease. Make sure to pack an umbrella this weekend so you aren't caught off-guard.
