Clouds Away, Sun's Gonna Stay!

Good afternoon Athens and North Georgia! Hopefully everyone was able to stay safe through the night as that band of severe storms passed over Georgia. There were reports of tornado and thunderstorm wind damage in counties across North Georgia including Newton and Walton this morning, but those damages are currently or have already been cleared. Despite the intensity of last nights storms, the sun is once again shinning and is not planning on going anywhere for the time being!

As we look at the rest of the day today, the skies will stay as clear and beautiful as they are now. Overnight we will see those same clear conditions (only a few low level clouds) with a low of 41ºF here in Athens. The winds are going to continue picking up throughout the night as well, making it chillier into Thursday. The high for tomorrow is expected to be a cool 60ºF, and the sun will be beaming due to the lack of cloud cover expected in the area!

For our more North Georgia readers, expect relatively the same conditions as Athens with a bit stronger gusts. Those gusts will bring temperatures a bit colder with a low of 39ºF, and a high reaching only 55ºF tomorrow. Tonight there is a 10% chance for showers due to some straggling clouds.

All of this beautiful weather North Georgia will be experiencing is do to a high pressure system moving into the area following the low pressure system that moved out overnight. This high pressure is keeping our skies clear, and keeping that sun shinning for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Our temperatures are also expected to start warming back up as the week goes on.

Thank you so much for tuning in with the WeatherDawgs today and stay sunny!
