Spring-like Weekend Weather

Good evening, Athens and North Georgia! We experienced widespread warmth today, with highs in the mid and upper 70s. Some upper-level clouds have also started to filter in this afternoon, and that cloudy trend should stick with us through the weekend.

For Athens, the warmth and partly cloudiness should transition to a relatively mild night. Lows are expected to fall into the mid-50s in the area, with much of the partial cloudiness sticking around. Those clouds, combined with the possibility of slight influence from a wedge in far NE GA, should keep Athens a bit cooler than today, with highs expected to top out on the upper edge of the mid-70s.

The story should be similar to North Georgia. Today's warmth should give way to lows in the low 50s area-wide, with clouds persisting through the night. Highs should also be a bit cooler across this region, especially given the possibility of an increase in cloud cover, with the mercury expected to rise into the low to mid-70s.

Going into the weekend, we expect much of the same weather region-wide. Temperatures should remain warm, with highs likely in the mid to upper-70s throughout the area. Rounds of clouds will likely continue at various times through the weekend, but no precipitation is expected.

Overall, the weekend should be pleasant throughout the region despite some of the building cloudiness. From a national perspective, we are watching for a potential severe weather outbreak over the Plains throughout the weekend, but this feature should not affect our area until the beginning of next week. So, get outside and enjoy the pleasant spring conditions! Stay safe, have fun, and as always, Go Dawgs!!!
