Good evening, Athens and North Georgia! Today, so far, has seen an abundance of blue skies with highs in the 70s for North Georgia. These conditions are already starting to deteriorate, though, as storms are expected to move in and develop across North Georgia. In terms of severe weather, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather for most of North Georgia and a marginal risk for Athens and Central Georgia, with the main severe threats being damaging straight-line wind gusts and small hail
At the time of writing this post, the skies in Athens are getting dark as the first line of storms is rolling into the area. The timing of the storms is expected to be from 9 pm to the early morning hours of Friday. The severe weather threats we are most concerned about are strong winds and hail, so if you have evening plans tonight, please be extra cautious. While the threat of any tornado spin-ups is low, the WeatherDawgs will be watching just in case to keep you all informed! A low of 52 will be accompanying our storms tonight in Athens. In Northern Georgia, a low of 49. Some graphics about our weather tonight have been attached:

Jumping into tomorrow, we'll see a high of 68 as well as some thunder and rain in the afternoon in Athens. A high of 63, and that same rain chance in North Georgia. If you have Friday evening plans, make sure to grab an umbrella!
This weekend is going to be a beautiful spring weekend, so make sure you enjoy the sunshine!!
Stay safe tonight and GO DAWGS!!
